Hey guy's, Mantle, AMD's low-level API has finally arrived to aid AMD cards in their battle against rival company nVidia.
Now for those who don't know what Mantle is:
Now for those who don't know what Mantle is:
"The solution: a unified industry
This is where AMD’s Mantle comes in. Mantle is a software component that makes it easy to apply programming techniques and optimizations written for consoles to PC’s containing GCN architecture. The chasm between consoles and PCs has been closed."
"What it means: better, faster games
While the initial release of Mantle is targeted for PCs, it has been designed from the beginning to be extensible to other platforms."

So basically it means people with a AMD card based of the GCN architecture will get more performance then those nVidia cards. Note: cards based on the GCN architecture can only be found in the 7000 series cards and R'x' series cards, ('X' meaning a number).
Mantle does not only mean more performance, the Mantle API can also be used with new rendering techniques.

So far the only game with Mantle support as of now is Battlefield 4, DICE has released their Mantle patch which comes in at 1.23GB, you can find more information about it here.
AMD has officially released their latest Catalyst Driver 14.1 which is required for Mantle to be used.
Not only does it bring Mantle support but it also brings HSA and hUMA or HSA architecture support as well.

In order to use Mantle you will need:
- AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta drivers, which AMD will post here.
- AMD Radeon GPU with Graphics Core Next Architeture
- 64-bit Windows (7, 8, or 8.1)
With Mantle it really goes to price/performance, so should you buy a AMD card for your next build?
It all depends on the games your going to play as not all games are going to be using Mantle.
But right now in my opinion for my money I'd go for a AMD CPU and GPU combo.
